Despite Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s public opposition to the Great Israeli Real Estate Event, Metropolitan Police officers assisted the event while attempting to obstruct the PAL Commission’s service of legal notice. Suspected participants had already been served personally, while submissions were made to the relevant government agencies in advance.

At the venue, officers joined in the bullying of the process server and refused to allow legal papers to be handed to event associates standing only metres away. The process server nevertheless gained access shortly afterwards and successfully completed service. Following receipt of the notice, individuals affiliated with the event subjected the server to veiled threats.

The PAL Commission condemns this obstruction of legal process as a direct affront to the British rule of law and to Mayor Khan’s stated opposition. By shielding an event suspected of promoting the sale of stolen Palestinian land, the Metropolitan Police provided civil cover for activities connected to torture and armed home invasion, as well as ethnic cleansing and genocide.

PAL Commission Director Deek stated:

“Evasion of service does not make service ineffective.
They’re on notice. Submissions were made to Met Police. What happens next is up to them.”
