PAL Commission endorses Colombia’s Uniting for Peace Resolution

24 SEP 2025

This week, the PAL Commission (PLC) announced its formal endorsement of Colombia’s forthcoming Uniting for Peace resolution at the United Nations General Assembly. As the only primary outside counsel to Colombia and extensive contributor to the drafting of the resolution, the Commission’s Director of Legal and Diplomatic Affairs – Lamis J. Deek – confirmed this resolution is the only international mechanism capable of stopping the genocide in Gaza, dismantling the Israeli settler-military occupation, and securing permanent peace in Palestine.

The Commission’s Director described the upcoming resolution as “a pole of global morality,” elevating Colombia and its people to the center of a historic struggle for law, justice, and peace.

Unlike the repeated failure of proposals such as the French-Saudi plan, Colombia’s draft is fully aligned with the ICJ Advisory Opinion, UNGA Resolution ES-10/24, and customary international law, mandating:

  • The removal of illegal settlements and military outposts
  • The right of return and reparations for Palestinian refugees
  • Protection of Palestinian sovereignty and self-governance
  • A multilateral humanitarian intervention in Gaza to halt genocide

The Commission has called on all governments, advocacy groups, and civil society to mobilize now and demand their representatives vote YES when Colombia submits the resolution to the General Assembly.

The Commission’s Director stated: “This is the only real path to justice, not a tool of geopolitical power. It is the only resolution that can stop the genocide and secure a just and lasting peace for Palestine”.
